Side skirt curb rash

Hi guys my girlfriend scraped along side a curb in a drive thru in my 04 civic ep3. I'm not familiar with body work in that sense. Wasn't sure if I should just go to canadian tire and buy the duplicolor color match and spray over it to cover it up or if I should be sanding it down then painting etc. Doesn't have to be absolutely mint just don't want it looking super noticeable. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you !!

Depends how deep the scratches are. It will probably need a minor fill in and sanding with various stages. Painting it might be enough to not notice it though. Have any pictures?

Re: Side skirt curb rash

I would start with sanding it down a bit. I am not a body guy though and fiddle my way through it with trial and error. Use this chart to help guide you.

http://www.automotivetouchup.com/san...selection.aspx

I would probably start with a 600 grit and see what it felt/looked like afterwards and then gradually step it up to a 1000 wet sand. Possibly go lower then 600 if the cuts where deep. Blending is the part that's a pain to make it look good.

You could always just spray it with touch up paint and see what it looks like. That way the parts that are missing paint would not be so obvious. If you still don't like it then you can sand it off and do the above.
