how did you get swirl marks in the first part? Did you wax wrong? The best advice I can give you will take a while but might be worth it. First off wash your car with dishwashing soap, this will take off the wax. Then polish your car, followed by a layer of cleaner wax and then finally a layer of wax. Now you will have at least 3 layer of protectant on your car. When you apply and buff off the polish, cleaner wax, and wax make sure to use strait back and forth movement, not circular like on karate kid, this is what might be leaving the swirl marks. Go with the flow of your car making straight lines. This is what worked for me and I have no swirl marks on my black civic.

Here is my advice to you. Wash the car with a clean wash mitt and clean soap. Dry the car with the California water blade and then finish off with a Clean Chamois. Try not to use towels because they leave lint. Now in a cool shady area....First Apply Meguries Swirl remover to each panel of the car in a back and forth motion. Rub it into the paint good. After you do the whole car wipe off the swirl remover with a dry clean terry towel. Next Apply 3M Hand Glaze in a back and forth motion, rub it in the paint good. (Make sure you do not use the same applicator or towel that you used while you were using the swirl remover. You do not want to cause a chemical reaction by mixing the car cleaning products.) Only in a back and forth motion, and never in a circular motion. If you do it in a circular motion you are more likely going to create more swirl marks. Do a panel at a time and try not to let the glaze completely dry. Wipe the glaze off. After you use the 3M hand Glaze, apply a quality Wax to the surface. Do not use a polish or a cleaner wax. Use Meguires #26 or Meguires Gold, Or Mothers wax. Anything that has Carnuba. If you want to be on the safe side....after you wipe off the wax with the terry towels....Invest in a micro fiber towel and rebuff the entire car with this towel. This towel has such fine fibers that it will remove all the wax that the regular terry towel didnt get.

I've heard mixed results from it... everything from "works great" to "this stuff doesnt work!"... I believe its what you expect the scratch X to take care of which will determine the success of your results...

civicdude---I have a black vic and my car seems to have a little cloudiness to it. Not all over but you can see it here and there. I went over it with 3m swirl remover, the polished with meguiars crystal system, and then meguiars gold wax. Any suggestions as to getting nice deep rich shine w/o the cloudiness. I did it all by hand by the way. It shines very nicely but you can see a little cloudiness in the right light.

So the paint has a haze in seperate spots...Does it look like the paint was polished in that spot with a machine and never glazed?? If it does you may have to go over the spots with Glaze and a foam pad on a high speed buffer.....Put itt on a low speed though and go over the spot. After you glaze, wax over the area....If it doesnt look any different, there may be a defect in the paint.

I hate swirls. I have a 4 door blue sedan. I use the #9 Meguiars Professional swirl remover 2.0. This will take the top surface off the clear coat taking the swirls out of the clear coat. Then get a good wax. I have used the Meguiars gold class, zymol, and waxshop. I like the waxshop cause you don't have to polish the surface after you wax the car. This means after you wax your car you will still see a little film on the paint you take a wet cloth and a dry cloth and wet it and buff it dry. it makes it look real nice but the waxshop you don't have to do that and you don't have all the wax powder all over the place.

I usually hose the car off after I wax it anyway to remove the powder and swirls that the wax may of caused. I then wipe the car dry with a chamois and go over the car with a spray detailer and a Micro fiber towel.

to get rid of swirls dont wax off in circles, take off the wax in left/right straight strokes.deepercolorapply more coats of polish. I'm only gonna say this once more, cause nobody listens, or knows i guess, 1)cleaner2)polish3)wax, not polish, cleanerwax, wax (jswhaler). and after your done with the waxing, go over the car with a diaper in left right motion for hood, roof, trunk, and up down motion for doors/vertical surfaces.

I have said that many times before not to apply wax/glaze/polish in a circular pattern, Always apply it in a back to forth or side to side motion. I just have one question for you. You say cleaner, polish, and wax....What kind of paint cleaner and polish are you using? I usually do a 3 step. I get most of my chemicals from a commercial detailing supply store but I was wondering what you used.

i use the meguairs deep crystal system right now, although i dont like their polish in this system as it takes at least 2 coats to work well. It takes a lot of time too.

Ah...you use the old red bottles? Have you tried the new glaze, I believe it is #7 in the tan bottle...That stuff is amazing. If you do try it, Let it sit on the car for 30 minutes and then wipe it off. You have to let it sit on the car so the oils can penetrate into the surface making the paint really glossy.
