damn. how am i going to fix this (pinstripe question)

I took off my silver pinstripe and got the adhesive off. but i can still see where the pinstripe was. i need to fix that because it looks ghetto as hell. i was thinking about buffing it but i am worried i will put those swirls in my clearcoat.

anyone have an easy fix for this?

try the 3-step method:

1) paint cleaner
2) paint polish
3) wax

is it like faded paint? try the method like Falken said first, if doing it by hand you will be hard pressed to cause swirls. you cause more swirls washing the car than anything else. You may also try a chemcial non-abrasive cleaner like Meguiars Deep Crystal Step 1. You can follow it up with step 2(polish) and step 3(carnuba wax) for a nice shine.

an abrasive scratch remove like ScratchX might do the job also.

if its just off color then you might also try ColorX. I would try ColorX first if i were you. its great for restoring color and shine and is slighty abrasive.

what color is your car? if it is a "halo" type effect, just keep it clean and polish it out while the sun helps fade it down.

well after washing the car tonight. i see where the stuff that i used to remove the adhesive has dulled the clearcoat. funny thing is, it hasn't dulled where the pinstripe was.

so i will prolly need to use that color x.
