Wax on a New LX?

This may be a stupid question but...........
Do new models off the lot have a decent coat of wax on them? Just got a new LX and want to know if I need to slap a coat on right away or not.

Some dealer throw on a coat of wax during the prep. I would go over the paint with a light polish like Poorboy's Polish with Carnuba and then top that off with a good sealant like Poorboy's EX or EX-P. All can be purchased at www.Danase.com and is on sale for 10% off this month.

i agree. but most people usually just go to a local store to get stuff for their car. But yea, i would do what danase said. Thats the exact thing i did to my car. ssr 2.5 with polishing pad via PC. PWC topped with ex. Soo smooth.

Normally you want to wait at least 30 days since the car has been painted/manufactured to let the paint fully cure. Once that has happen I would put a good coat of wax on it asap. I prefer polimers ( either liquid glass or atomic shield) They look great and last forever and they keep building a clear coat like finish unlike waxes which remove the previous layer.

Nope, not from the factory. The paint processes they use at the factory makes the paint ready to go off the line.

This is true if you had it painted at a shop though.

my car was made in may 04, I bought it with 8 miles on it in august of 04 the week after i bought it I put two coats of Mcguiars NXT on there, it is a liquid it made a big difference. I have been applying one coat of NXT every weekend since august, and my paint looks like red glass.

One coat every weekend? Isn't there something about over-waxing a car?

Yeah it's a lot of work, but my red car shows every little water drop, and after I Chamois it dry there are always little spots, some big ones too, the NXT cleans that all up. 1 Bottle has lasted me this long, and I still probably have enough left for three or so weekends more in that one bottle, doesn't take much.
