Winterize

So yesterday I got the car almost ready, putting on the bra cover, changing out the headlights back to the cleared stocks so that the projector lenses dont get beaten by rocks and sand. I just need to get one more good covering of Scratch X, Swirl Remover, Polish, then Wax and Glaze and its good for a few months.

P.S.- heated car wash bays rule!

Sounds like a lot of work, I just keep my mods on during winter. Seems to work just fine.

I'm thinking about doing all that and stuff like oiling the door hinges, maybe some graphite lube in the door locks? What else do you guys think would help?

I would suggest against the car bra. Those usually do more damage than good. All fo that winter dirt and crap will sit between the bra and the paint and will not be good for it. Unless you plan on taking it off every week and washing it that is.

For winter I am just going to get a good wax on it, put on some winter tires, and call it good.

yeah take the bra off.. for exactly the reasons bobyd stated..
my mom put one on her car a few years ago cuz she does like 400 miles a week on the highway.. the paint got so screw up that she had to have it repainted..

make sure you have real windshield wiper fluid and not water with some washer fluid mixed in with it.. check yer antifreeze.. hit the weather stripping up with some tire shine.. lil wd30 in the locks.. and yer good to go..

Yes, they do have summer and winter blends of wiper fluid so just because you got it off a store shelf does not mean it will hold up to freezing temps. And WD-40 is good for the locks but I always use a graphite lubricant in the winter. It is all preference though.

I would also agree that car bras and rock deflectors do more damage than good.

If you are worried about rock chips i would get some 3M stone guard. I have that on the hood, front lip, front bumper and side mirrors.
