Snow Tire Help

Hi!

This spring I purchased a 2006 Honda Civic EX coupe. It came with Federal Super Steel 215/45-17 Performance tires on it, and they have been phenomenal all summer. I live in the Pacific Northwest, right at the base of the Cascade mountains, and our winters can be harsh.

What would you guys recommend for good snow tire, or what size is pretty standard that I can keep my eyes open for??

Thanks!!

I attached a picture of the Federals that are on it right now, sorry for the quality, its the only decent on I had.

Re: Snow Tire Help

Ha! I lived right across the border in the Cascades for a couple winters when I was a kid... Manning Park. One year the snow came right up to the roof of the house.

Probably a good idea to go back to an original rim size... 15" is really common these days and probably gives you the most tire selection.

Everybody will have an opinion on what a good winter tire is but I now live in the Columbia/Selkirk Mountains and have been running Toyo Observes for the past 5 years and couldn't be happier with them. They use crushed up walnut shells in the manufacturing process. So grippy in the winter my ABS rarely ever comes on. After 5 winters they still look barely used as well.
