rusted paintchip

Well after the winter I noticed I have a couple small paintchips right to the metal and I can see rust! Now should I just put touch up paint over top or would the rust just spread from underneath of it? Should it be sanded down? what should I do? I dont wanna take it to a body shop cause the spot is small but I also dont want the rust spot to grow over the years.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Thanx

Search the net or a local auto store for a liquid or gell rust remover.

Then clean the spot after the rust is gone and use touch up paint.

yeah not really much help yet. Anyone help us out? is it ok to just put touch up paint over the rusted chip? or will the rust spread underneath?

you need to have th rust removed. The best way and the only right way to do it is to take it to a body shape, sand down the area thats rusted and the area around it and paint. THats the only way to really make it look good

but what if the paintchip really small? I don't wanna take it to a body shop to get sanded than painted after every little paintchip that starts to rust. I realize it wont look as good but wouldnt just touch up paint be ok? or would the rust spread underneath it?
