I've made my share of mistakes...

-ruined a gauge cluster
-baked headlight bulbs while clearing headlights
-blew some fuses and LEDs
-broke the clips off a cover panel
-shocked myself with neons
-dropped screw between amp pos and neg terminals
-screwdriver marks all over dash

You wanna hear more? We all have accidents and I guess it's part of DIY stuff.

well if it does not come off you have no choice but to deal with it or paint them.

Try and pick up some Meguiar's clear coat body scrub. I used it to take tar off my intake and it didn't damage it. But I think the stuff you used actually ruined the finish already. Sorry man.

well, I'll probably just leave it as that for now... i'm so pissed...I'll try to put some polish on the intake, but I guess the struts is done! if I get my turbo someday those have to come off anyway... but that's gonna take about another year... oh well... Thanks for the help guys!

AR will become famous soon enough
i hear some of that is just too strong. i am still perplexed as to what is best and softest for use... i mean my engine bay is still clean enough to cook on, but i want something that wont damage.

someone said plain/quality car soap will let up the dirt and grime enough..

use white wall cleaner deluted 4:1 with four parts water 1 part cleaner. this is what we use on our carlot and it won't spot your shat. wet your engine down and cover evenly and let it sit for about 5 min but don't let it completly dry works great
