Which primer for interior trim DIY

So i went out to pep boys to get the plati-kote paint indicated in the DIY. However, i couldnt find a WHITE primer by plati-kote, only a grey one. Anyway, Pep boys sells i think "varsity" white primer. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if i should just get that white primer or stay with plati and get the grey one. btw, i wanna do a silver trim. Will a grey primer affect my end product?

DO NOT get gray primer. Messes up the color. Any brand white auto primer will do; i got Dupli Color.

i just used a clear plastic primer, and then silver automotive paint, and then automotive clearcoat to paint my pieces...

I bought my stuff from Canadian tire... and it's worked perfectly for over 6 months without chipping, cracking or anything...

Wal-mart grey primer. White messes up the colors!

eh, white worked fine for me. Of course, I didnt use a specific Honda color, but it ended up matching pretty well. I'd say get whatever primer you want, see if it works. If its not the color you want, try a different primer.

U can use any primer u want but if ur gonna do a light color like silver dont use too dark of a primer or ur gonna have to spray a lot of coats for it to get the color u want. If u use white primer u wont have to spray so much silver. Well atleast thats what I've notice the times that I painted my friends interior.
