Can i use regular soapy water w/ claybar?

i searched, didnt find info. i would hate to waste that detailer spray, i would like to know if i can use soapy water w/ the clay bar

we used to use just water and a claybar at the detail shop i used to
work at.

civic dude told me that. I believe it's ok.
I usually use the stuff meguiar's comes with though, but I have used some meguiar's car oap and water to clay before, works the same.
