can an a/t ecu for d17a2 be converted to m/t
can an a/t ecu for d17a2 be converted to m/t
I recently replaced the d15 non vtecin my civic for a d17a2. the engine is from a honda stream i think which was a/t and mine is m/t. after the swap, i started the car on my orignal ecu(the d15 one). it started but was misfiring
a local mechanic got the car to work perfectly fine on that ecu and i thought all was good until i noticed the car was not performing on the top end. i got it dynoed and it made 60hp. the guy told me that vtec is not working because of the ecu. the ecu that came with the engine gets the car to start and drive normally but it gives a check engine light and doesn't rev past 4k rpm.
can anyone help me regarding this situation?

check oil levels, the simplest one to look at. (VTEC is activated hydraulically)
2nd, check if there is a wiring connecting the VTEC solenoid to the ECU (since the car did not come from a VTEC, most likely not)

the vtec solenoid is not connected to the ecu as the ecu does not support it. the purpose of this post is to somehow get the vtec working. i know the d15 ecu can not do that. so my other options are to somehow convert my eco to m/t or get another ecu and i can't find any in my country as this engine did not come in any local model.

When i install the ecu that came with the engine(37820-PLR-J82), it gives a check light with the following codes:
O2 Sensor 1 failiure
O2 Sensor 2 failiure
A/T failiure
The car does not rev past 4 k RPM(My car is a manual transmission)
When i install the ecu from my previous engine(D15B) it works perfectly fine with no Check light but does not engage vtec.

what do you mean by that? The motor has oil in it. it is not leaking or anything.

1) if the oil level is low, the vtec does not engage. it is activated by the oil pressure.
2) you said the ecu that came with the engine does not activate the vtec. But if you just insert the ecu into your car, it did not come with the wiring for the vtec. So, obviously without the connection, it will not work.

Auto transmission ecu, even with vtec, will not work with a manual transmission. (Even though you can drive with it)
with out any info as to what gear you are in vtec will not engage. As well auto has 4 gears manual 5, so ratios would be off.
You'll have to buy a manual, vtec ecu, then drive to honda on the auto ecu. There they can swap the ecu then code your key. Make sure the ecu matches your engine year, because there are 2 different ecus, regarding wideband and narrowband AF sensors, within the 7th gen. I think the split is 2001-2003 vs 2004-2005, but not sure.
