ECU reflashing

Hello all,

I am planning to do my auto to manual swap and while at it i was also able to pick up the Si motor that came with the tranny. Now I was wondering if anyone has done this before and what ecu did you use. Ive searched and so far most of the stuff has been on the k20 swap and not on the d17a1-d17a2 (for obvious reasons...lol). Ive seen and heard 2 different things:
1) My auto ecu will work and i will have a check engine light (and a vafc for the vtec)
2) my auto ecu wont work at all and i need a manual ecu (which ive been able to get.

i was wondering if anyone has had their ECUs reflashed and where they did it and how much did it cost them. I know this is supposed to be on the swap and forced induction forum, but i need advice locally.

Thanks a lot

I don't know if reflashing your ecu would work because you'd still be missing the wire for the vtec solenoid. Best bet would be to buy an D17a2 ecu and swap that in. I saw a guy on the US Forsale forum selling one for $40 shipped. Let me see if I can find the link for you.

EDIT: here you go http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...ight=d17a2+ecu

Thanks Eric, but like i said before, i already have an ECU, i got the motor/tranny and ECU as well. I remember u telling me that u did use ur old ecu, but i will be using a new ECU and my main concern is REFLASHING it so that I can get it to work with my key and bypass the immobilizer.

Hey 909, I think i will take you up on that offer. I called the honda dealerships around here and they were like: "ecu reFLUSHing?"....theres no fluid in the ecu...im like duh, really?!!.. And so none of them have ever heard of it or even done it. Can you pm me a ball park figure of how much its going to cost please? Drinks are on me if u ever come down to Hess this summer...lol

Depends on how many keys, ect.. and which ECU you plan on using.
Generally I'll try to save you money vs. Honda. PM me for specifics .
