Transmission Swap

Had my 03 Honda civic ex coupe BMXA transmission went out a couple weeks ago and swapped in a 02 Honda civic BMXA transmission. Barely test drove it yesterday, and while driving down the street, the check engine light came on for P0730 (Gear Ratio Incorrect). The PRNDL indicator on my dash lights up in park & drive, but not in neutral, d3, or 2. When I move the shifter slightly up or down in between the PRNDL positions that are not marked on the dash, they suddenly become marked. Did I install something wrong?

Re: Transmission Swap

P0730 is usually a sign that the transmission is toast. I don't believe that it's caused by anything else so did you ensure your new transmission was functional?

You can double check all the related plugs but assuming you clear that code and it comes back, I'm not sure there's much point.

Oh really? I got it out of a pick and pull, seemed fine. I am going to check the plugs and some other things, before pulling it out again and returning it to find a different one. Thanks!

Re: Transmission Swap

Did the junk yard car have damage? It was in the yard for a reason. I believe '03-05 transmissions were better than '01-02.

I do not recall, but swapping the shifting solenoids from my original transmission helped with the check light engine, and also adjusting the neutral safety switch helped with the PRNDL Indicator. Car ran fine but seems to be slipping or not quickly engaging gears when shifting from 2nd to 3rd. Am going to just pull it out again, and go find an 03-05 transmission at pick and pull. Will definitely be looking for the crashed ones.
