what a shame
so i went to my uncles house over the weekend and i see this in the driveway.
we started talkin about it and he offered it to me. only catch is, it has a parts only title and i couldnt register it or ever drive it, unless i trailered it to the track. it had been wrecked 3 times and he rebuilt it years ago and parked it. i wouldnt even park my vic close to it. you can see it at the end of the driveway.

yeah he got this one from an auction. he has a car lot, body shop, and a salvage yard so he comes across nice rides all the time. i have thought about swapping vin plates a few times, but i dont wanna be a prison bitch or run the risk of getting the car impounded. i thought it would make a nice drift or drag car and just be a trailer queen for the rest of its life.

well, the frame isnt 100% true since its been wrecked a half dozen times so if i can find one with slight front end damage and no motor and i can take 2 and make one. its been sitting under some trees in his yard for years. ive never even seen it before. it was covered up that bad. he pulled it out the other day when he heard my little 4 banger pullin up. threw a battery charger on it and it fired right up.

he is right. even in cali a salvaged title can be driven if it passes a safety and smog inspection. and in cali if the vehicle is driven for 2yrs after purchase date and is still on the road they will lift the salvage title. my neighbor does this all the time he goes to auctions finds salvage titel cars and fixes them and sells them as salvage title cars. my other neighbor bought a flooded gs430 with 40k for $15k all that was wrong after it dried out was a bad driver seat motor and bad a/c blower motor and missing auto shift ****. all was fixed for less than $1k and it runs great. not bad for a $25k car

its not a salvage title. i have 2 or 3 salvage titled cars. this has a parts only title and in tennessee you cant register a car with a parts only title. there are states that let you register a car with a parts only title but this isnt one of them. only thing i could do to register it is get a post office box in kentucky and register it there? he said you can register it in kentucky. ill call the dmv here and ask but im pretty sure he knows what hes talkin about.

parts only = parts only.
from the gov't website, for ALL STATES:
so get it, and steal all the good stuff out of it. screw that fat heavy body... put the engine/tranny/etc in an sc300 or something and call it a day.
from the gov't website, for ALL STATES:
Parts-Only
A Parts-Only Salvage title is assigned to a vehicle that can only be sold as parts due to excessive damage. The vehicle can never be re-titled or re-registered. A Parts-Only title does not require a sub-brand and is labeled with a junk status
