Can someone let me in on why can an engine only take a certain amount of boost? When I read our engines can take from 7 - 8 Pounds or something like that...What part of the engine is not able to break that barrier? What must be changed out? The reason I am asking is that I found a guy out here that has this turbo/supercharger shop (that's all he does apparently) and he makes custom turbo's and superchargers all the time. He quoted me around $5500.00 for a custom setup for my car running around 12 PSI reliably. He also fabricates all the parts himself (with the aide of a couple people and a seperate shop). That is he states that it will run "like is was factory made". He puts a 3 year warrantly on all his systems and does all the regular maintenance (fees occur here of course). He did not state any numbers, because he needed to do more research first...But then that's as far as it got, because I do not have nearly 6 G's to slam down for him to get to work.

Rep Power: 288 well, after around 8 - 10 psi, if you dont have a good intercooler, an upgraded ignition, and perhaps water injection, your car will detonate. And when you detonate, you can say good bye to your pistons.
It is not like our cars cant put out 15 psi or 20 psi. It's just that if you do, you wont have an engine anymore.

Rep Power: 0 the biggest problem is people confuse boost w/ horsepower (not the same thing )second to make horse power you have to add lot of air lots of fuel and controll your burn rate (timing).if the burn rate is to fast it will detonate(motor death)higher octane slows the burn rate to make controllable energy.the key is higher octane fuels allow you to make more power.untill you make so much cylider pressure you just break stuff...
