Contemplating different builds, Need input!
Contemplating different builds, Need input!
So basically my current situation is a bone stock 2001 civic with about 300kms on it (roughly 186411 miles according to google) and I am really starting to take an interest in civics. I’m a young 16 year old kid with a budget, but I Definitely would not want to cheap out on parts. So what I have been contemplating for a couple weeks is the build I want to do.(I was thinking maybe not a K swap but I’m not against it and would like to hear your opinions) I am thinking of dabbling in turbos in the future which would mean I want good internals. From doing a bit of reading on the forum I read something where a guy said that the stock d17 isn’t worth doing a turbo build on because the rod bearings bolts stretch at 12 psi. So what would you guys do. Upgrade the internals of the d17, or I was thinking maybe a b18 or b20 swap? Or something completely different. Just keep in mind I would like to move forward with a turbo in my future.
Budget for the swap was around 3000 cad give or take (2330 usd). Max would be probably 4500 CAD. (3500 usd) if you guys believe this budget should be higher, please let me know.
Thanks in advance boys

Re: Contemplating different builds, Need input!
first off, wrong section.
If you want engine mods, we have a different section.
I moved thread to that section.
2nd, B-series engines are for the 6th generation cars, you have a 7th generation car.
Emissions regulations generally do not like older engines in newer chassis. Rather think on K-series engines. Way more available options for matching the engine to the chassis also, companies will not offer off-the shelf options for B-series in 7th gen swaps.
I would suggest playing with suspension. Like an old Pirelli ad says, "Power is nothing without control"

Buy a wrecked/rotted rsx and then kswap, and 5 lug your car.
Can't put a b series in a 7th gen

If you really want to build your 7th gen, there are a few guys here that can give some good info.
Financially speaking, you’re better off starting with a different platform. You can get an integra for a bit more than the cost of the civic but it gives you a way better aftermarket and a better platform to handle the power. They’re really fun in stock form, too.
