No lie, I've been staring at this picture trying to figure out where it goes. Still can't make heads of tails of what that is, and I've torn apart a D17 before. Granted, it was an EX version (D17A2) and MT, at that

Service manual makes no reference to it. Could it be part of the system that locks the steering column if turned without a key in the ignition?
