Front hub and bearing [solved]

2003 civic Ex. Ihave the Timkin bearings and we started the job. Buncha questions for those who used them.

1. which side faces the clip? Rubber or steel?
2. how much clearance is needed between the inside of the hub and the knuckle? That is to ask, how far do I press in the hub?
3. do 1 and 2 matter much?

Checked YouTube for a video?
1aAuto usually has good ones, Chrisfix did one on a DelSol that would probably be the same

Ya I been all over YT. Not much detail on the press process, just kinda “ put it in” I see a couple folks here who used the Timkin bearings.

I sent you a PM. Yes 1 & 2 do matter. I can't remember if the clip is outside or inside but the rubber seal of the bearing faces away from you towards the engine bay. It will have the magnetic ring behind the seal that the wheel speed sensor mounts next to.
And the hub gets pushed in all the way until it bottoms out.

Yup I figured this out. The rubber faces the clip on the outside. This bearing has no mag ring. Timken tells me it doesn’t matter which way you put it in there.

Re: Front hub and bearing [solved]

Glad you figured it out. I forgot the toner rings are on the end of the CV axles instead of the bearings.
