front wheel hub bearing

i got a noise coming from front left wheel. i believe its the wheel hub bearing. sounds like metal to metal type of contact swooshing. can anyone confirm this.

i had a shop replace a stripped stud, before the install, no noises, after the replacement it made the noise cuz he "banged off the hub" should they not buy me a new bearing and install it?

yea i read that thread and a few others. i shoulda jus replaced the bearing when i had the stud replaced. which is somethin the shop didnt even recommend until AFTER it was done so they can double charge on labor. i bought a new bearing already jus waitin on a few people to let me kno if they can fix it this week.

well there is your problem, the shop "banged off the hub". The wheel bearing is attached to the hub assembly so they probably damaged the bearing. with the studs, you are supposed to remove the knuckle, press out the hub assembly then press out the wheel bearing. You should make the shop buy you a new hub assembly.

they are claiming it was in poor condition already from driving around with only 3 lugs for a while. which is major bs cuz i dont think that can cause any serious damage in a short period of time. i went back to them and bitched them out and got $30.00 back for labor of replacing the stud.

driving around with 3 lugs will not hurt anything. 3 lugs hold the wheel on as tight as 4 lugs do.
