Question 2004 What power steering fluid can I add to factory?

My power steering fluid is a little low and it sounds like a belt is slipping sometimes when I'm turning or I go from turning to going straight. It's a squealing sound. I figure the power steering fluid would be a good thing to try first since I can see it's a little low. What can I pick up at Auto Zone to add to this?

Nothing. Go to the dealership., unless AutoZone suddenly sells Honda-branded PS fluid.

Anyone know what they'll charge for that or will they just sell me some? Their aren't any local honda dealerships by me so I won't be able to get to one of those for 1-2 weeks depending on my schedule if I have to make an appointment. I work 7 days a week.

They might charge you a couple bucks for a top up, or if you're polite they might not charge you. A bottle is probably under $10

They sell it directly. There will be a parts counter in the lobby.

That's not to bad. It could be worth the drive to just head over there.

If you can wait, I know you can purchase small 12oz bottles on RockAuto for just a few dollars. I recently did this and purchased (2) Beck & Arnley power steering fluid bottles specifically for Honda/Acura. They were about $3 each plus shipping. I would assume $10-$12 total for two bottles.

thank you. That is very helpful! It looks like it's the right stuff. Your estimate was close too. $13 for 2 of them shipped to me. I hope this fixes the squealing problem!

Oh man. Is there an easy way to tighten the belt? I only see one belt looking at it.

Everything is right on top so it's pretty easy to get to. The hardest part is accessing the lower pivot bolt...kind of a PITA, at least for me.

Here's a helpful video:
This is for the whole pump but he shows how to loosen and tighten the belt

Crap it looks above what I can attempt to do and I don't have much time. I guess I'll have a shop look at it and decide if it has to be tightened or replaced. The car needs new breaks and rotors too. Yay car repairs!
