Struts (or springs) for softer ride in 2003 Si?
Struts (or springs) for softer ride in 2003 Si?
2003 Si — I'm needing to replace my front struts and I would ideally like to get something that can offer a softer ride than stock. Ideally I would just replace the struts alone and not the springs, but if different springs are gonna make all the difference in a smoother ride, I would consider it. No need for lowering or any of that—just a good bang for the buck that could help to get a softer ride is all.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

get a less sportier version, like LX models?
course, there are preferences of body shape here, since Si is the hatchback. (Unless you are in Canada)

The spring rate will determine the harshness/softness of the ride. For a better ride get softer springs. Possibly from an Lx or get custom spring rates from Swift or Ground Control. The springs are normally shorter but they could probably make custom length ones.
If you go to soft your suspension will dip more with bumps so it could interfere with other components.

Okay, maybe I'll just go with some KYB struts with my existing stock springs. It's recommended that I switch out the mounts too, right? OEM mounts or should I get the KYB mounts to match?

The KYB will probably be fine. I replaced mine with OEM ones though. How long you going to keep the car? Do you drive a lot of miles? Questions that could help you decide.

Thanks, I just went with OEM. Only $20 more in total. I saw the KYB bearings that came with the mounts had some bad reviews.
