New Here. Rampant Idle

Hello All,

New guy here so I apologize in advance if this in the wrong place. Anyhow, I've got an 01 EX with about 134k on it. Just recently fixed the infamous TDC issues as well as the ELD. These were P1298, 1361 and 1362 to be precise.

Took the car to the store last week and all was fine and dandy. Still don't take it for far trips cause I don't trust it cause it's been just a royal pain for the past 3-4 months. So I was gonna drive to a friend's yesterday since it's maybe 10 miles one way. Luckily it acted a fool before I left my neighborhood. Put it in R to back away from the bike in front of me and when I put it in D to go, the pedal was sticking like it didn't want to go. Thought maybe I wasn't pushing it right somehow since my other vehicle is a 98 GTP and has more room so maybe my footing was off. Once I reset my footing and pressed down a little harder it started going but then just wouldn't stop racing. I start hitting the brakes but it won't cease the acceleration so I finally got it into neutral but it wouldn't cut down the RPMs so I had to force it off then put it in park etc etc.

Turn to this morning about an hour ago. We go to look at it again. It turns on and immediately shoots up to about 3k.. we disconnect the battery and try to have it relearn idle. Then once we tap the gas it shoots to rev limiter and won't cool off. So it's sitting now at the bottom of my hill with the battery off and I'm not entirely sure where to start. The throttle cable is not caught on anything and like I said it worked fine a week ago. I kind of figured if it was gonna act up it would do it immediately.

No CEL so I'm not sure where to go first. I've read check and clean the throttle body. I've read vacuum tests. I've read abott IAC. I've read about sensors. Just want to know what to try and do without running it first if at all possible cause I'm sure my neighbors are as mad about hearing it as I am. Oh and to make matters worse we can't even get it to shift right now either. Safety lockout or something? Idk...I really don't want to scrap it cause it's young but I've also seen lots of people say the 01 is one of the worst out there so if it's truly better to cut it now before it turns into a bigger money pit...I'm not opposed to that with some recommendations from people with high levels of insight.

Thanks!

Possibilities that come to mind immediately:

throttle stuck partway open for some reason

IAC stuck open

huge vacuum leak
