jerky shift

Under normal acceleration (easy throttle) it shifts through the gears normal. If one waccelerates harder or does what one would expect as a downshift, it goes jerky!
What might be the issue?
05 civic ex automatic (4)
Is there a modulator valve or control that senses when it should downshift?

Re: jerky shift

Any stored codes? Doesn’t matter if the check engine light is off.

Has the trans been drained and filed with fresh fluid?

Re: jerky shift

I’d definitely try a drain and fill. When my Pilot starts shifting rough that fixes it.

Just don’t do a flush.
