drive axle quality and options

Hi.
This is about to be my 3rd replacement of the cv drive axles, well more like 4th because the first time i did the boots replacement and it merely lasted 1 year and then i got a set of drive axles unknown probably cheap brand at a local auto parts and it lasted until now that both boots are completely gone and had some weird noise and steering shaking the other day.

Please i am looking for something that will last like the OEM ones but at an economic price.

AUTOZONE brand Duralast any good? or what can someone suggest me? or should i get a used low mileage oem one or just go for the new oem at hondaparts for $150 each?

i am also willing to replace the rack and pinion which has been leaking inside the cabin a lot for some months now and i am constanly refilling the fluid and driving with care for it to last longer but i just ordered a used one supposedly with 60k miles on ebay from a junk yard, will see how it goes and how the procedure to install this.

I need this piece of junk to last long enough until i die in a hundred more years at least, Haha

I’d go OEM.

I installed a pair of Cardone Select brand cv axles about 3 years and 40K miles ago. I haven't noticed any problems. Boots are good quality. I purchased them from RockAuto.

The ones i got were some unknown brand i think, the boots on each wheel side are completely gone, I have probably put let's say 50k miles approx and they have been making this clicking strange noise every time i brake or accelerate.

So if Cardone is a low price i might go with it then, not easy to spend $300+ on 2 drive axles at this time. Thank you people here for this

Re: drive axle quality and options

I've have no complaints about AutoZone axles. Purchased three of them over the past 20 years for various cars and never had an issue. Also, compared to buying at Rock Auto there isn't any shipping or waiting involved if there's a return needed.

The most important thing is to buy a "new" manufactured axle and do not buy a remanufactured axle. It's very likely the same manufacturing plant somewhere in Asia is producing all the axles available on the market. These axles just get rebranded into whichever sellers name (i.e. Duralast, Cardone, etc..)

I've purchased a few parts from them in the past two years for a Buick Century, and have no complaints.
