Re: 2003 Hybrid Transmission disassembly
Re: 2003 Hybrid Transmission disassembly
Hello, I'm currently in the exact same boat as OP, the CVT in my partner's 2003 HCH suffered catastrophic failure, and upon partial disassembly, the CVT drive belt appears to be totally destroyed. I am an amateur mechanic (strong background in motorcycles and diesels), but have very little transmission knowledge or experience. I'm still up to the challenge, but could definitely use some guidance.
My current struggle is just the basic disassembly, I can't seem to figure out how to remove the lower fluid pan, and I know I need to break it down further to access the space where the drive belt lives.
Aside from that, any knowledge, tips, tricks, instructions anyone can pass me would be extremely appreciated, this is a daunting task.
Thanks in advance!

Re: 2003 Hybrid Transmission disassembly
Maybe it's harder than it appears, but in the parts diagram it just looks like a normal oil pan removal. Remove the bolts around the outside then pop it off.
Re: 2003 Hybrid Transmission disassembly
Okay, thanks for the reply. I haven't wanted to force it and potentially break it. All bolts that I can access have been removed, but I've tapped the lower unit with a block of wood and hammer pretty hard, and seen no sign of the surfaces separating.
I'll attempt again later.
