2001 Civic 5 speed grinding in gear only under load.
Ok so I just picked up an 01 Civic LX with 245,000 as a beater. Overall car runs great but it's has a grinding noise coming from the tranny. I have read the articles on the difference between and TOB and an input shaft bearing but mine falls into neither diagnosis. Here is my best explanation.
If I am Sitting in neutral foot off of clutch there is no noise.
if I am moving under load there is a grinding sound in all gears.
If I put the car in neutral as I am going any speed all grinding noise goes away.
I pulled a little bit of the tranny fluid and it is black so I am sure it could use changed but I am curious as of the source of the grinding noise since it doesn't fit either of the common descriptions. Thanks for the help!

Just to clarify, it doesn't grind going into gear, but only grinds when it's in gear? It almost sounds like the clutch isn't fully engaging.
