Car runs but won't shift into gears!
I got stuck on a flooded road and my civic stalled. I was able to get it out and running again, drove home and seemed fine. The next morning I went to start and there was one bang when it tried to turn over, i waited a bit and tried again. It started right up and left it running for a long time until the engine was warm and the rpm's dropped from 1,200 to 800 (where it usually ideal's) I then put it into first and move the car where i left it until my brother was able to come over to check it out with me. started it up was really trying to stall but kept it running and let it warm up just as before. Went to test drive it and now it wont go into any gear. It grinds horribly trying to put it into reverse and gears 1-5 won't go in and the rmp's rise when I try. Any thoughts???

Re: Car runs but won't shift into gears!
I'd expect the clutch disc is now stuck to either the flywheel or the pressure plate, due to rust.
I would push the clutch pedal down.
Put shifter in 1st or reverse whichever way is clear for the car to move.
Push clutch pedal down.
Start the engine.
The starter alone will move the car until the engine starts up. As soon as the engine starts, you'll be driving down the road. So you better be ready to control it. If you can't control it, **** could get really exciting.
I'd hold the clutch pedal down while briefly and repeatedly stabbing the gas pedal to the floor until the clutch is unstuck.
The clutch disc may break free when you try to crank it with the pedal down. It may stay stuck until it's jarred free.

Re: Car runs but won't shift into gears!
I started it while it was in first gear with the clutch pedal pressed all the way in and the car jumped and stalled. It seems like its not disengaging. I can however shift through all the gears while the engine is off but, when the car is running it wont go into any gears. Id assume this must be an electrical issue??
