Hello everyone, I accidentally damaged one of the metal cooler pipes on top of my transmission and need to replace it. I have decided to eliminate those metal pipes and rubber hoses altogether and run braided AN hose from the trans to my external filter to my cooler and back to the trans. So here's my question. Both my external oil filter adapter and my cooler have 1/2 inch threaded connections, so it would be easiest to run 8AN (1/2 inch) lines. Would it be a problem to replace the stock 3/8 lines with 8AN hose (1/2 inch), or would that be okay?

I don't see how bigger lines could cause a problem, but a couple people have said that the trans cooler and lines provide needed restriction and that going with bigger lines will allow the fluid to flow too freely and cause a loss of pressure, causing the trans to not operate correctly. I wouldn't think that the cooler lines should be restricting the flow significantly anyways, but if someone could confirm this that would be wonderful. Okay so I ended up with an extra 10AN hose kit, long story but I ordered a 10AN hose kit for my oil cooler and it came with a defective fitting, so the seller sent me a whole extra hose kit. I know that 10AN hose is way overkill for transmission cooler lines, but could I use them for transmission cooler lines since that's what I have? I have read that the cooler lines need to have a certain amount of restriction, but that sounds like total BS to me. Thanks in advance!
