How hard is it to pull and change out synchro on 03 ep3 transmission? 3rd gear grinds unless I gingerly move the shifter. Any help is appreciated thanks in advance.

i would recommend getting another trans and rebuilding yours as a side project. this reduces stress on you, eliminates the need to rush, and keeps the car on the road while you do it.
i rebuild my mustang transmissions as i wear them out. i've never changed just a synchro. to fix a grinding gear i replace the 3 synchro parts as well as the gear, the slider, the shift fork pads, also any spiro-locks, snap rings, etc.. so usually it's a rebuild kit, plus a gear, plus a slider. the only special tool i needed to buy was a good snap ring pliers and a $40 bearing splitter. here is a gallery of me assembling a tremek T5. https://goo.gl/photos/LuPRB69Pug5N7zuG6 i think it's kinda neat to flip through. every time i added a part, i added a picture. i find this is a fun and rewarding process, and afterwards- every time you shift, you'll know exactly what is occurring.
i purchased a rebuild DVD. i follow along, pausing it and rewatching the steps as i go. if they have one for your trans, i think you'll find it WAY more useful than anything you can read

If you have the skill level, or time to mess up and learn form a mistake, then it is easy.
Take lots of pictures before you take the sacks apart.
