Transmission Question (Solved)

Hey this is my first post so thanks in advance for your help! Anyways today I was working on my car and noticed a metal tube sticking up from my transmission beside the clutch master and slave cylinders. Looks like you can see right into the tranny through it.

My question is what is it? And am i missing a cap/hose or some sort of part? Kinda worried about dirt getting in there. Thanks!

Re: Transmission Question

I'll bet that's the vent. Something just like that on my auto. There's supposed to be a plastic cap on it to keep crap from falling into it.

Re: Transmission Question

Awesome, thanks rattlenbang! Gonna call the dealership and see if they can get me the cap. Might drain the tranny oil to try and get the dirt out and refill.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Re: Transmission Question (Solved)

YES it is the vent tube, there should be a special rubber cap on top.
Looks like it has been missing for a while, there's already dirt buildup inside the tube.
