Does the fan come on? Did you bleed it properly? Did you use oem parts?

Re: 04 Civic LX OVERHEATING

do the test in the videos on the first post.

https://www.civicforums.com/forums/3...reference.html

It it pass, go to the other items, it's not the head gasket
If it does not pass, it;s the headgasket

I'm just about to start replacing all these items this weekend because of an overheat issue. It's the typical head gasket symptoms. Talking to the previous owners buddy, he says he let the car operate at unsafe temperatures often. I'm hoping the block isn't cracked.

Odd question. Is anyone that's had overheating and bad head gasket still getting great mpg? I just got 471 miles on a tank of gas, put in 11.5 gallons for a 41 mpg tank! Really hoping it stays that efficient or gets better after the repairs.

Re: 04 Civic LX OVERHEATING

Block may be damaged, tried doing the head, headgasket, waterpump, belt, etc on my '00 and it was still overheating. Put in a different engine and all is well.
