Looking to buy car, but has odd overheating issue.

I'm looking to buy an 01 Civic, but the owner says it overheats. Here is what I know has already been done to resolve the issue...

"new water pump...timing belt ..thermostat ..radiator..radiator hoses..temp control sensor..fan sensor..head shaved and pressure checked..but she still wants to get hot."

Any ideas? Anyone run into this before? Would love some insight. Thanks!

I will note that it's not been "riced out." It looks like just a family get around car.

I wouldn’t. It isn’t like good 7th gens command a premium anyway.

Thing is, this is a steal even if it costs a grand to fix. I can ****** it for about a grand, and it's below 200k miles.

Re: Looking to buy car, but has odd overheating issue.

7th gens are notorious for head gaskets.. just saying. That's why Craig said to run. If you were to DIY head gasket change, it'd be in the realm of 300-500 to fix. If you were to have a shop do it, 1500+

Any history of original owner using that stop leak headgasket crap? If so, definitely run.

I'm told the head was shaved and gasket replaced. Don't know if he used stop leak, but even if he did it's got a new radiator as well (which is why that causes an issue to my understanding.) I'll ask if he put the head back on himself. Maybe he screwed up the torque on the bolts...

$1000 doesn't even seem like that good of a deal for it, to be honest. Got mine for $500 (and that's in CAD, mind you) and all it needed was some minor bodywork and brakes.
