Question 2004 Cruise control quit working & feels like slipping accelerating from stop

I have a 2004 Honda civic that has been running well. Today I got out of work and noticed the cruise control didn't work. The button is on for it and such. I then noticed that when I stop and then accelerate from a stop it feels like something is slipping. The best I can say is it feels like when the front wheels lose traction on a wet road while accelerating from a stop. It then drives normal after that. It does this each time I stop. I checked the transmission fluid and it seems to have enough in it. The engine still runs smooth at idle and while driving.

Any ideas on this one?

The green cruise control light is no longer on when the button is pushed in as well.

It looks like the engine/tranny issue is separate. I found out the brake lights were stuck on when the sun was setting and I didn't notice that before. I put a 7mm bolt in it's place with a nut behind it after finding a video of it on YouTube. It seems to be working. I did end up spending 1.5 hours in the parking lot of Lowe's trying to make it work and getting bolts that were too large twice... But it's working again and the brake lights turn off. The cruise control is once again working!
