nope door will still lock/unlock with a dead actuator

Dealer is the only option I know of

Re: Driver side lock almost broken - Keyless entry an option?

Well then. Back to this eternal problem. The other day, the doorlocl finally broke and is now, as an added bonus, stuck in the LOCK position so it prevents all the other doors from opening reliably.

So I am now dismantling the door panel, with the goal of
1) Switching the door lock cylinder so I don't have to get in theough the driver's side
And
2) Finding out why the keyless entry doesn't lock the driver side door at all.

This is what I am looking at on the way to fixing the lock cylinder. What is the loose connector for...!? Might it explain the problems with the keyless entry?

Wth is the grey loose connector in the middle of the photo?

Well, now the lock is fixed. Had to swap out a few of the key cylinder plates, file one down, and simply remove another one alltogether because they all got stuck in one slot, but now it works.

Still, anybody have any idea on that mystery connector?

Going to probe it with a multimeter tomorrow and sew if it gets action when the keyfob is used. If it does, it seems likely there is a cable missing. Also...the tape on it looks nonstandard. So it looks like someone might have removed something at some point. If so it might get a bit tricky to fix it. 😅

I don't think that connector exists on US cars. I don't have any idea what it's for.

It does look odd...especially considering the tape has probably been added by some previous owner...

Well, nothing to it. I just have to take a look at the actuator. Will start by testing the signals to it and see if anything gets through. Might as well test the mystery-connector at the same time, and then go from there.

Of course, now there is a torrential downpour again so once again I am waiting...

Is it a 3-pin connector? I may have found it. Pic is for the passenger side but same thing on the other side. Looks like it's part of the stock security system. It was either rare in the US or not offered.

at first i thought the green connector could be the side airbag, but I think it was in the roof instead?

Green connector is for the window switch in the door panel.
