dimmer switch bypass

so on my 02 civic lx 2 door some yahoo who installed the radio I guess fried the dimmer switch and as of now a new cluster is not in my budget for next few months. is there a way I can connect 2 wires together and bypass the dimmer switch? its not the fuse. I removed the wire he replaced the fuse with and installed the proper fuse. cluster lights, ac control lights no work. all my external lights work though. I just wanna bypass this stupid switch. I keep my dimmer lights on full light anyway

Re: dimmer switch bypass

update:
I removed the radio and the radio harness is a mess. the red/black wire was all melted to the other wires all the insulation was peeled off its so far gone. im gonna rewire the radio. I only want the cluster lights to work. I don't care 2 cents to have my ac lights work. if I cut the red/black wire at the cluster pigtail and basically attatch a new wire to the cluster side of the red/black wire and ground it out to the body, it will restore back lights to my cluster right?

Re: dimmer switch bypass

Most likely your cluster circuit board has also burned out a trace or two.

I would highly suggest removing the cluster and inspecting the circuit board.

Re: dimmer switch bypass

You can use an automatic cluster in a manual but your odometer will no longer be accurate. I don't think there were any wiring changes between '01 and '02 but I cannot say for sure.

Re: dimmer switch bypass

Cluster will be fine, I'm running my auto cluster after I swapped to manual.

-remember to do a gauge cluster reset/cluster function check, or the rpm gauge will not work.
