ok so i let a friend install my new deck i got he other day, and think he hooked up the dash wire (Solid Orange) with the illunination light wire (Orange w/white stripe) and when i turned on my light at night my whole cluster started smokin like someting was burning... i freaked out and turned off the the light and car, and pulled out the deck cuz somethin told me it was that, and yup, so now my cluster lights and lights on ac/heater bezel are all hella dim, plus my 2 green hazard light stay lte when i turn on my lights, there not blinking like when i push the hazzrd button, but just lite in the car...how the hell can i fix this?

Any suggestions?

yeah you fried the lighting circuit of the cluster and dash lights. if youre good with electronics you can try to swap in a new dimmer switch **** from a working cluster, otherwise youre gonna need a whole new cluster to swap in. theres no fuse protection for that circuit.

dag namitt..... and if i get a whole new cluster... im gonna have to get it flashed to match milage right?

well that or find one that is close to your actual miles. costs $150 to change the mileage and you have to send it out to this shop.

i jsut called a local shop and they have either an 01 civic ex cluster or an 04 cluster that is only bout 2500 miles off from mine.
they sell for about $80.00
should i go for the 01 or the 04... i currently have and 01 EX

Do the 04, look so much cooler. You just have to do some repinning of the wiring. Look up the DIY to see if you think you can do it.

On a side note.. I have an 01 cluster that I will sell you if you are interested, it has right at 85k on it.

nah thanks but i just got an 04 ex 2dr clsuter with 94k on it... so im good.... wellkinda... just need to fig out how to rewire it to work.... not really sure on the DIY instructions... anyone in sac are willing to help out a newb in trouble here?
