05 Oil pump seals replacement
05 Oil pump seals replacement
I have a 2005 CIvic 1.7L with 200,000 miles that has a very slow oil leak coming from the crankshaft pulley. I am due to replace the timing belt/water pump & valve lash adjustment in 20,000 miles and am planning on knocking out both the oil pump seals, valve lash, TB/WP same time in the near month or so since I will have lots of extra time. I am curious what order people recommend doing these jobs since I will need to support the engine with the oil pan for the timing belt but then remove the oil pan for the oil pump. I will also replace the positive crankcase vent valve, no reason to believe its bad but its cheap insurance to replace at the same time.
The order I am planning on completing this work is as follows. First check/adjust the valve lash. Remove the TB/WP, install new WP, reinstall the power steering pump bracket and motor mount, then drop the oil pan and the oil pump, replace crankshaft seal and pump I ring, reinstall the oil pump and oil pan, remove motor mount and PS pump bracket, finish installing new TB and put everything back together.
Parts I will be replacing with OEM - timing belt tensioner, water pump, crank pulley bolt, cam shaft pulley seal, crank shaft pulley oil pump seal, oil pump O-ring, PCV valve.
Parts I will be replacing with aftermarket - all 3 timing belt covers, valve cover gasket kit.
I would like to install a OEM timing belt but it seems to be discontinued, does anyone have a recommendation othen then Aisin or Gates?
