Originally, someone was supposed to replace the head gasket on my car for me because I was busy. I don't think they did the head job correctly. After a compression test, I got these results:
Cylinder 1: 125-127 psi
Cylinder 2: 50 psi
Cylinder 3: 24-26 psi
Cylinder 4: 160 psi
So, I took off the head. Pistons in cylinders 1 and 4 are almost squeaky clean, but 2 and 3 are burnt and dirty. There's coolant all around, and I believe there's oil too. Could it be that the head wasn't done right, or could it be an issue with the pistons? The car would overheat but start up just fine before shutting off if I let it get too hot. I have attached photos below to help paint a clearer picture.

Re: Could my pistons be bad or just head gasket?
Clean usually means burning coolant but with the compression that low there's definitely an issue with the head or block between 2 and 3. Or valves but I doubt it.
