2001 Honda civic EX, I was changing my axel today and when I lifted the front end up I noticed a puddle of fuel from the rear. I traced it back to what seems to be the filler neck hose that's attached to the tank. My question is where is this leaking from exactly is it the tank grommet/seal or the hose that's attached to the tank from the filler neck? I've attached some photos I hope I can get some answers. I was trying to find that rubber seal for sale but couldn't find anything, not sure if that's just part of the tank and if it's replaceable.
I would look into that hose also, looks swollen (maybe the issue?). That worm clamp looks overtightened. As far as the leak i dont see any immidiate source judging by the pics, have you checked with the car on for possible location of the leak?
No I haven't turned the car on since I noticed the leak, once I finish the axle and and some other things I'll give it a start and see if I can't visible see the leak. I was smelling gas fumes for a while but I wouldn't see any puddles anywhere so I figured it was some evap leak somewhere.
It seem to just be coming from either the hose there or the tank? No where else do I see fuel.
Unfortunately (my opinion), the gas tank is plastic, so someone may have overtightened that hose and broke part of the tank at the seams where the male and female end meet, i hope iam wrong but you may need a new fuel tank to solve your issue. If it was me i would disconnect the hose from the tank and further inspect the area as this can be the problem to your leak. This situation sucks, Good luck to you.
