Engine limiting RPM
Engine limiting RPM
My doughter has a 2001 civic 5 speed with a 2003 1.7 vtech and is having issues with what seems to be in limp mode. I dont know if this could be caused by the computer or something else. Let me give you guys a background. This issue apparently happened with the original ECU and it was replaced forba different one and it still happening. I have tryed to check the following. I checked and replaced the cranck sensor for orginal used sensors because they had put in a aftermrket amazon replacement and I replaced it for a used but good one I think. Now the new ECU they put on it is for an A/T dont know if that would help

Re: Engine limiting RPM
what codes are there?
any parts store can read them for free.
do you still have the original ECU? I don't read anything that would warrant replacing it.
Limp mode is there so that you don't damage the engine when a problem occurs. It is programmed to the ECU. The issue making the ECU decide to go into limp mode need to be solved first, and reading the codes is the first step.

Re: Engine limiting RPM
Ok thanks. Also. When you say programmed to the car is that what I have heard about the key or is it something toyally different? Sorry about my lack of knowledge on this but I have never had to chance an ECU on a car before.
