I've got a D17a1 had a rod knocking tried to drive it home and car lost all power it'll still start up but no power to drive. Recommendations on parts that I should change while I've got it out and tore down please this was my plan as of now on parts purchased...
If you're set on rebuilding the crank and rods need to be checked by a machine shop, there's a good chance they have damage. The block and head should also be cleaned to get out any metal shavings from the bearing.
Other than replacing other parts the complete overhaul rebuild kit is only $324 and ill do all the labor my self that's not a problem plus I've already got a new rear main seal, egr, vtec solenoid, ecu with wiring harness, and a vtec cylinder head

have you read about the key programming part?
oh, shoot, just noticed your kit already have the rear seal...
Realistically speaking what's the probability mean connecting rods are done for because I'm having major issues finding replacement connecting rods I do not want to go with used one's

Take them to a machine shop. It’s not worth reusing them blindly.
So if their not reusable will they charge me for checking them or nah
Of course. They'll be taking the time to do it. If you go to a shop, they're going to charge you for their time. It should be no more than probably 1 hour of labor though.
I'm not trying to cut corners when I do something I so it right that's why if I can't use the ones I have then im wanting to replace them with new ones was just curious what the going rate on having the rods checked out
