Connecting rod cap

Ok my 16 year old son had a rod knock. He went through the bottom and replaced the rod Bearings. He had a problem getting the cap of the rod on #1. He got the replaced all the Bearings. The #1 bearing spun again first time out. After disassembling the lower en again #1 cap comes down only part way a won’t go any further. Ideas do we need to replace the rod? It’s a 2002 1.7

Re: Connecting rod cap

What do you mean the cap comes down only part way? Pictures?

Usually when a bearing spins it damages the rod making a new bearing spin as well.
