5 spd m/t
Re: 5 spd m/t
Well since my “simple” timing belt and tensioner installation during which I discovered both the top mounts, engine and tranny, had been “engineered” to appear normal to a cursory look, this has turned into a full blown engine swap because of an engine knock so....as a previous thread of mine stated, this is sooooo much fun. Lol
Re: 5 spd m/t
If it were only two, lol, I knew better than to let my buddy’s “good” mechanic work on my car but I figured, hey how bad can you mess up and oil change and brakes, it’s not rocket science and he’s a good guy and it’s been a long week for me at work.....never again.
I haven’t had to do this much on a car in awhile what’s the best way to go about determining which one is bad if not both, lol, cause if it’s the rear main seal that can wait?

Re: 5 spd m/t
Were you constantly adding oil to the engine or transmission? Is the transmission really low on fluid? If the trans is still full and you haven't been adding any that would indicate it's the engine.
If it were me I would clean it up the best I could, replace the throwout bearing (and possibly clutch due to oil contamination), and replace the rear main seal. Of all the different Honda's I've worked on I've never seal the transmission input seal leak but who knows, that is a lot of oil/fluid/grease.
