Question Plastic PCV valve on gen7 2001?

I have a 2001 Civic 7th gen (EU, EP, EV) engine D16V1. It suddenly burns oil. I tried to go clean the pcv valve. For some reason my pcv valve is plastic, and it lacks the 17 bolt size format, it's just sort of loose? But all videos and pictures, even the store shows a metallic threaded version for all 2001 civic engines. I'm confused, did someone put the wrong pcv valve into my car? Does the threaded one not fit for me?

The story,
All is good, car is great, never overheats all fluids are leveled. I'm starting to hear a slight ticking on idle, since I'm not that much of a car guy I just think it's normal. On the main road my engine light activates, it's the vtec solenoid that lacks oil to function (p1259). My dipstick doesn't even measure at the tip. I fill it up to spec with 0w-20, now the ticking disappears. After closing the 1259 with my cheap scanner it stays cleared. I'm thinking "huh, wouldn't my oil pressure light come on before the solenoid giving bad readings", I can't find the oil pressure pin on my scanner, so I assume it's mechanical and broken. My dash shows oil light on start then goes dark so the light is working. Now my idle is surging up and down. I added some stp carb cleaning mix into my fuel tank, no effect other than it pulls better on low rpms, idle still surges. At this point I'm still loosing a bunch of oil, I can't seem to find any spots on the ground nor a great wet spot on the engine. So I jacked up the car, crawled under and located the pcv valve. The clamp handle broke because rust but sort of still works. I realize the pcv is plastic and has no threads. I yank the pcv hosing gently for about 30 min, but it's stuck and I have no spare so can't risk breaking it. I put it back and drive home, but when I park the idle surging is gone even if I try make it surge?

I was thinking having it diagnosed by a mechanic or at least communicate with somebody knowledgeable about hondas. Maybe a Honda dealer? See if it's scrappy time. What do you guys think?

Clamp moved, pcv not pulled.

Clamp moved, pcv pulled until stop.

Re: Plastic PCV valve on gen7 2001?

Apparently my engine configuration (D16V1, 1.6L) actually has a plastic/nylon PCV, according to this Russian website. Feel free to advice. I'm probably getting a new hose, clamps and valve then get the old one out with force.

You've got it out a little bit. Maybe try spraying some WD-40 or equivalent onto it. Push it back in then try to work it out again?

Re: Plastic PCV valve on gen7 2001?

Yes, I'll try wd-40 or silicone when removing this valve, thanks.

So there may have been some buildup in the pcv tube that loosened since the idle surge stopped after me pulling and trying to get it off. I drove for a couple of hours and now it retains the oil.

I guess this thread can be closed.
