Key stuck in ignition

I went out to start my 2005 honda civic 4 door manual and I turned the key to start it and it started but then the key got stuck in between the accessory and start position.

I have tried wiggling the steering wheel back and forth while trying to turn the key

I have also tried taking the battery off and on (trying to remove the key with the battery off and back on)

I have also made sure the car was in neutral with the handbrake set

It is cold here about minus 15 c

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what they did to fix it. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok so I was not able to get the key out to disable the ignition so I had to cut it off. I wasn't worried about this as i need new keys anyway. So I disassembled the ignition and was able to take it into the locksmith where they rebuilt it for me and now it works just fine.
For the keys they had some that have a place to put the chip of the old key in them so you can reuse your chip instead of buying a whole new one and going to the dealer to program it.

Re: Key stuck in ignition

Ignition cylinder tumblers are probably shot, try some spray lube and a hair dryer to warm it up.
Ignition cylinder can be retumbled, or just remove the tumblers, you'll be able to turn the cylinder with a screwdriver but the immobilizer will prevent the car from starting
