2002 Honda Civic Crankshaft Position Sensor Misfiring
In August of 2019 I took my car to an automatic where he replaced my crankshaft position sensor. Everything was running smoothly until March of this year when my car started having acceleration issues (not as intense as it was in August) and then would have intermittent delay start up until it finally would not start at all. During that time of trying to figure out what the issue was, I replaced the camshaft position sensor. I then had it towed to a mechanic in which I provided the off market crankshaft position sensor and they installed it. Today, August 6th (only 4 months later) as I was driving along my check engine light came on so I decided to take it to Advance Auto to have them test it. When I came to a stop (thankfully at the entrance of a neighborhood) my car stalled and all the lights on the dashboard appeared. I then turned off the car and let it sit for a few minutes. I turned the car back on and was able to drive it to the auto shop and had them test it. The OBD2 tester said that it was the crankshaft position sensor.
My question is, why would the crankshaft position sensor go bad so quickly? (This is the 3rd time I would have to replace it in a year and a half.) Could it be the wiring that is causing the issue and not the actual sensor? If it is the sensor and not the wiring, could it be because I kept getting off market sensors and not the actual Honda sensor?
Please help!

A member came across "the deal of a lifetime" when he found $15 Honda sensors on eBay. DO NOT DO THIS. Either go to a Honda dealership or find a reputable website that sells genuine Honda parts. I'd be shocked if you find any for less than the $100-ish range.

I'm almost certain this is your problem. Honda's have never taken well to aftermarket components. I suspect you'll have no issues once you switch to one from Honda. You'll be looking to spend in the area of $100 for just the sensor.

I bought my civic from my neighbour in 2015. He had the cam position sensor replaced with the timing belt in 2008. It hasn’t been replaced since. Assuming that’s actually your issue, a genuine Honda part will last the rest of the life of the car.

$125 at Majestic Honda, P/N 37500-PLC-015, about $10 shipping, at least to Vegas it's about $10 for shipping
List price is $185, I can see dealerships charging $200+ for the part. If you ask nicely, local dealer may price match online price, as long as it's a genuine honda parts dealer. One of the local dealerships here in Vegas will price match online price+shipping and get it pretty much next day if it's not in stock. Doesn't hurt to ask. Worst they can say is no
edit: story time. I went to one of my local Honda dealers, and I asked about price matching Majestic Honda's price. Dude straight up went, "ah crap.. you know about Majestic... let me see what I can do," and went to get the parts manager. Parts manager was able to get me within $10 of the Majestic Honda price+shipping, which was good enough for me since they readily had it in stock

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Any reputable mechanic shop offers a warranty on the work, and the parts sourced for their work.
What are the terms of that warranty?
Who obtained the crank sensor?
