radiator cooling fans
radiator cooling fans
With the plethora of information and knowledge on this site I don’t usually post as I can always find answers to my questions, however I have a strange issue with my cooling fans. I have an 2004 LX 1.7L with 185k miles, the head gasket recently blew. I had coolant being forced into the overflow reservoir, the car never overheated I just noticed a small puddle of coolant under the car one day. I replaced the head gasket and everything seems to be fine with the exception of my radiator cooling fans never turn on due to engine temperature. They both turn on when I turn on the AC and they both turn on when I jumper the coolant temperature switch. So I thought the temperature switch was bad, I replaced it and still have the same issue, I tested the one I removed and it appears to be opening and closing as it should, closing at around 210 degrees. I’ve let the car idle for 20 minutes, I then took it for a 15 minute drive and then let it idle for another 15 minutes and the fans never turn on. The temperature gauge stays right in the middle on the range the entire time. Has anybody experienced this before or have any other ideas what the problem could be?

Re: radiator cooling fans
Do you have a data reader that can see the actual coolant temperature? It's possible it's just not hot enough to turn them on. While driving the fans would almost never be necessary, there is enough air flow through the radiator.
