Junkyard valve cover “melting”
Junkyard valve cover “melting”
Hey all 👋 I got a pretty decent looking valve cover from the junkyard, but there is a spot where the metal is turning to “liquid”. This started after I removed the old gasket and what I thought was leftover gasket sealer is actually the liquid metal. Best I can describe it as grey mud. What the hell? I removed down to normal looking metal and now it’s become soft. OEM failure?
Re: Junkyard valve cover “melting”
I don’t see any spot for a weld unless whomever painted the cover in the original paint. Is there anything I can put on this spot to seal it or should I just go back to the junkyard and see if I can find another?
Re: Junkyard valve cover “melting”
Someone probably used JB weld and it's not holding. I would get another one.
