Engine dies at different times
Hoping for some guidance on this: My daughter has a 2002 Civic that occasionally dies. The engine shudders and won't accelerate. She has to stop the car, put it in park and shut it off and restart it. It then runs fine until the next time, which may be a day or two. It is a high mileage car (over 200k) but has been well maintained. The transmission was just replace with the same unit from a 2005 with 134k miles. The engine stalling issue existed prior to the transmission going out. The computer accepted the replacement trans and it is functioning as it should.
Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: Engine dies at different times
Most sensor issues that will cause the engine to die would trigger the check engine light.
Does that light turn on when she first turns they key and then turn off or does it stay on?

The light comes on and stays on. Does not go out. Car recently passed e-check with the light on.

Re: Engine dies at different times
The downstream O2 sensor shouldn't cause the engine to shut off, it's basically just there to see if the cat is functioning. 1457 is just a small evap leak, again shouldn't cause the engine to shut off
