Burning Oil
Burning Oil
I have a 2003 Honda Civic with 180k miles and Im losing about 1 1/2 quarts of oil every 700 miles. It drives and idles fine and no sign of oil under the car. I did compression check on each cylinder and they all came back within range. Recently I started noticing a puff of smoke coming out of my tailpipe after idling at a stop light (doesnt do it at every stop light).
Could this possibly be a head problem? Its not overheating and Im not losing any coolant...the only problem is the oil consumption.

Re: Burning Oil
It's most likely the oil rings. You can pull them out the bottom clean the pistons, re-ring them and throw them back in
Re: Burning Oil
What oil are you running? That car calls for 5w20 correct? If that was my car I'd put it on a good high mileage oil and bump it up to a little heavier of an oil depending on what youre running now.
